ASAC.01 v1.0

Customers value seamless & secure authentication solutions, like MSISDN Seamless Authentication which enables a secure and silent authentication process using MNO assets.

As this MSISDN Seamless Authentication relies on network enablers, the main drawbacks are:

  • Only works when the mobile device is connected to the Internet via Mobile Network not via WiFi
  • Is only guaranteed to work from native applications, not from web clients
  • It is hard to certify at a high level of security

The challenge therefore is to implement a secure (certifiable) MSISDN seamless authentication including when initiated from device web clients whereas the user’s mobile device is using Wi-Fi connectivity to access Internet Services.

It is required to extend TS.43 to enable MSISDN seamless authentication via Wi-Fi and trigger MSISDN seamless authentication.

The GSMA Authorisation Sever – Authenticator Capabilities Group (ASAC) has defined this specification that enables the above feature.
