IR.40 provides the following guidelines to GSM operators for the implementation of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). IPv4 addressing for the GPRS network infrastructure, autonomous System Numbering for IP network routing within the GPRS network infrastructure and GRX networks, IPv4 addressing for GPRS Mobile Terminals and how to request IPv4 addresses and a ASN (Autonomous System Numbers) from the relevant Internet Registry.
